Gerald and Daisy (then aged 70 and 65 respectively) started The Nut Man in 1992 in a tiny room off a garage. Their first outlet was The Blue Shed Craft Market at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
The business grew rapidly and, in 1995, their daughter Sarah joined them and now runs the business. With Sarah at the helm, The Nut Man’s range of products and services has expanded in tandem with the development of the company, which now operates a buzzing factory.
Our staff members are the heartbeat of our business and some have been with the company since its inception. While the staff complement has grown with the company, each staff member who joins us contributes to ensuring that the high standard set at the beginning is maintained. Despite our expansion, The Nut Man’s manufacturing process is still done by hand, with care and love. Because of this, we believe that the happier we are, the better our nuts taste.
Social Responsibility
- We are dedicated to empowering and upskilling our staff and have a programme in place to help staff members build their own homes and educate their children.
- We give back via donations (monetary and in kind) to worthy causes, which are carefully screened and selected. For example, every month The Nut Man donates between 50kg and 200kg of crumble (nuts that are broken or crushed) to children’s homes.
As a client you receive individual attention and personal service – from the moment you place your order until you receive it, delivered with a smile.
Just as we care about making sure our clients and staff members are happy, we also care about the environment. We make every effort to source locally grown products to ensure that we maintain a ‘green’ footprint.
